Community Learning and Development

The Community Learning and Development (CLD) Service helps people across Aberdeenshire learn new skills, build confidence, and get more involved in their communities.

We are a targeted service that support adults, young people, and communities to reach their full potential.

By building confidence, encouraging participation, and helping you make informed choices, we aim to support strong, active communities across Aberdeenshire.

We aim to meet the expectations set by the CLD Standards Council for Scotland, who are our professional body.

What support we offer

Our learning opportunities can help you gain qualifications, speak up about local issues, or simply try something new. Learning is offered in different ways, face-to-face, online, or a mix of both, to make it as accessible as possible.

You can get help to improve your skills, gain accreditation, and get involved in your community. Find out more about the support available and how to refer to CLD.

CLD partnership plan

The Community Learning and Development (Scotland) regulations 2013 place a requirement in statute by the Scottish Government for all local authorities to work with partners to produce a CLD plan every three years focussing on:

  • Improving life chances for people of all ages through learning, personal development and active citizenship
  • Building stronger, more resilient, supportive, influential and inclusive communities
