Aberdeenshire Council Archaeology Service (ACAS) works on behalf of Aberdeenshire, Moray, Angus and Aberdeen City Councils.

We locate, evaluate, protect and explain archaeological sites across these four council areas. Information about these sites is recorded in the Historic Environment Record (formerly known as the Sites and Monuments Record).

As part of the planning process, we review all relevant applications submitted to the four councils and advise when archaeological work or mitigation is required. We also give guidance on SRDP, forestry schemes and utilities work.
